Alicia Vikander Mistaken For Tourist In Las Vegas

Alicia Vikander was mistaken for a tourist who might get "lucky" and see Matt Damon as the Oscar winner arrived in Las Vegas to shoot the new JASON BOURNE movie.

The Swedish actress has become a Hollywood darling after receiving critical acclaim last year (15) for her work in Ex Machina and The Danish Girl, a role which won her gold at the Academy Awards in February (16).

However, she isn't always recognised in public, and a cab driver thought she was just another traveller when she returned to Sin City to film scenes for the new action thriller with franchise star Matt earlier this year (16).

"He thought that I probably just arrived in Las Vegas," Alicia recalled on U.S. breakfast show Today. "This cab driver turned around and was like, 'You know, I went to the Strip, they closed (it) off and made this amazing action sequence for the new Bourne movies.' He was like, 'You know, you could be lucky, you might just see Matt Damon on the street!'"

Alicia couldn't help but smile at the comment, as she was actually present for the big shoot on the Strip, where producers had the main road shut down for several hours to film an explosive sequence which involved destroying multiple cars.

The actress, who plays CIA agent Heather Lee in the movie, watched the action unfold from the top of a hotel, and she was stunned by the level of destruction that actually took place.

"I wasn't in that scene, sadly, but they blew up 170 cars for that scene," she revealed. "Normally, you kinda assume that everything is kinda green screen and CGI (computer-generated imagery) nowadays, but I went up to one of the top floors of one of the hotels one night and looked down and just saw vehicles flying in the air!"

Damon returns as the titular character for Jason Bourne, after stepping down for 2012's The Bourne Legacy, in which he was replaced as the male lead by Jeremy Renner.

Julia Stiles also reprises her role as CIA agent Nicolette 'Nicky' Parsons in the fifth instalment of the Bourne franchise, directed by Paul Greengrass. (MT/WNVTO/KG)
